Over the last month, the Blackhawk Mites have continued their winning ways. They have won five of their last eight games, including a "bronze" trophy and banner for their play in the Germain Holiday Tournament! They won their opening game by a 7-4 score over the Golden Wolves. The next game against a tough Tampa Jr Lightning team was scoreless well into the 2nd period when the Lighting took charge. The final was a 7-0 loss. Next up were the Florida Eels. The Hawks were down 4-1 but made a game of it, scoring the next 2 goals, before falling 4-3. The "Bronze" game was against the Golden Wolves and the Hawks played another solid game, winning 7-4 and brought home the 3rd place hardware!!
Since then, they beat the Gulf Coast Flames 5-1 in a scrimmage, lost to the Jr Everblades 6-0, and won FAHL games 10-6 over the Miami Toros and 5-0 over the Golden Wolves....Keep up the good work- MITES!!

Former Palm Beach Icehawk, Matt Wahl, committed to Division 1 Brown University earlier this week. Matt, who plays for the Omaha Lancers of the USHL, will lace them up and compete in the ECAC where he will battle against schools like Harvard, Princeton, and Yale to name a few.
It is the second Division 1 college commitment of the year for former Skatezone players. Earlier this year, Kevin Goumas, decided on the University of New Hampshire. A Hockey East powerhouse, UNH is currently ranked 16th in the country.
The Hawks First Annual Golf Tournament, held 1/31/10 at the Palm Beach National Golf Club in Lake Worth, is in the books. We raised funds for our MJHL & SEJHL Teams
and we would like to thank all of the sponsors and all of the golfers that participated! Everyone walked away with door prizes and a fun day of golf with friends. The tournament provided complimentary drinks on the course, a tasty lunch, a nice buffet dinner and a fun time was had by all. Skatezone has partnered with Palm Beach National Golf Club making it the "official" course of the rink and the Hawks Junior Hockey Club. Please click on the logo to go to the "PBN" website. If you're a golfer, this is a great venue, with a great staff to take care of all your needs while at the club. Give them a call and play a round.... We hope it's the first of many events at Palm Beach National!
We've added an alumni page to our site to follow the "hockey paths" that some of our former youth hockey players have taken. We're happy to report that Matt Wahl (91), a former "Icehawk" is our first alumni on the page. Kevin Goumas(91) has joined Matt on our page - and our list is growing! Check back often to see their accomplishments, we'll be adding our alumni as we get their stories.
